2010 Dodge Grand Caravan A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove an A/C Condenser from Gasoline Engines on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before you remove the condenser on a gasoline engine, pull away and isolate the negative battery cable. Empty the refrigerant out of the refrigerant system. Then, pull the grille out and undo the three nuts holding the A/C discharge line and A/C liquid line to the condenser tapping block found in the right front corner of the engine bay. Unconnect the A/C discharge and liquid lines from the condenser tapping block and throw away the old O-ring seals and gaskets. Clamp along the opened refrigerant line and condenser with plugs or bandage the openings with tape. Turn the screw fastening the condenser tapping block to the radiator and detach the transmission cooler lines from the transmission fluid cooler port. At this stage, cover the opened transmission fluid cooler ports with plugs or tape. Unbolt the crossmember at the top of the radiator and put it where it won't be in the way. First, open the retaining tabs that secure the top part of the condenser to the radiator, then move the radiator at the back for space. Be sure to mark the location of each radiator and condenser air seal before taking them off, as their correct installation is needed for the best performance of both cooling systems. Then, raise the A/C condenser up higher to clear out the lower nut and bracket holding it to the radiator and take it out from the engine.
