2010 Jeep Wrangler Rack And Pinion Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Rack and Pinion Steering System on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should first lay the rack and pinion along the frame rail and tighten the bolts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.) to install it. After that, join and fix the pitman arm, turning the nut to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). If the axle assembly does not lift out, pry it open and fit the track bar at the outer frame rail, bolt it in place with the nut and then tighten to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). Insert the track bar into the groove where it originally sat on the frame, then remove the support and the vehicle will lower. Position the column coupler shaft with the rack and pinion, add a new pinch bolt for the coupler and fasten it by turning it to 49 Nm or 36 ft. lbs. Place and tighten the power steering hoses or tubes to the rack and pinion until you reach a force of 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.). Hook the coolant bottle back in, refill the system with fluid up to the proper markings and examine the toe setting.
