Ensure the car is ready by turning on the ignition, brakes and wheel locks to center the steering wheel and make sure it's locked in place. Get rid of almost all the power steering fluid and set the coolant bottle out of the way. After that, undo the rack and pinion's lower column pinch bolt and disconnect the shaft from the lower column coupler. Remove the power steering hoses/tubes from the rack and pinion. Lighten up the vehicle, hold it up, remove the track bar's bolt, then put down the track bar. Take out the pitman arm nut and apply special tool 9615 to pull the pitman arm away from the rack and pinion. In some cases, the axle assembly needs to be moved over to the side so you can install the track bar at the frame rail and secure it with a nut and bolt, tightened at 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.) at the bracket. Replace the track bar at the frame, remove the support and take the vehicle off its stands. Line up the shaft of the column coupler with the rack and pinion, put in a new pinch bolt and tighten the bolt to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.). Couple the power steering tubes or hoses to the rack and pinion and firmly tighten them to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.). Fix the bottle to the coolant line, fill the power steering system appropriately and make sure that toe setting is accurate.
