2010 Jeep Wrangler Shift Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is a Shift Cable Installed on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Join the shift cable to the bracket on the shifter assembly by pushing it through until it is tight. Before adjusting the cable, put the floor shifter lever to PARK and release the lock on the adjustment screw. Slide the shift cable onto the pin on the shift lever and raise the vehicle. After that, install the shift cable to the shift cable bracket and use the lever to move the transmission into its "park" position at the rear. Move the shift cable over the manual lever in the transmission and lower the vehicle. Once more, put the vehicle in PARK and rotate the rear prop shaft so it locks. Screw the adjustment screw deeper until it reaches 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.) and test the accuracy of the shifter. After that, set any consoles you took out back in their proper place.
