Start by using a trim stick to set apart the lower trim guard below the shift knob, before installing the new shifter assembly. Take the shift knob off the shaft and then remove the lower-trim part. Insert the lower trim onto the assembly, place the knob over the shaft by hand, and cap it off with the remaining lower trim. Set the shifter assembly onto the studs of the floor pan, screw in the nuts and tighten them to 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.). First, put the floor shifter in PARK and then remove the adjustment screw from the gear
Shift Cable. Cover the end of the gearshift cable onto the pin of the shift lever. Connect all the wires from the harness to the shifter assembly and check that the transmission of the vehicle has the sprag locked by giving a rocking motion on the vehicle. Adjust the screw at 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.) and test that the shifter, park lock and BTSI are all working properly. After that, reattach the removed console parts to the middle console.
