How to Service and Repair a Fuel Pump on Chrysler 300?

When servicing the fuel level sensor, first let go of the fuel system pressure because it stays on even when the engine isn't running. Make sure there is less than 5/8 of petrol in the tank before trying to remove modules. If you must, drain the tank until it is not completely full. Take away the rear lower seat cushion by pushing it from the front cause behind and remove the negative battery cable. Turn over the foam pad and then take out the left side rubber access plug. Make sure to see the arrow on the electrical connector's top for later reference. Blow any dirt off the opening of the fuel tank with compressed air and then slide the remover/installer lock ring into the notches of the lock ring. Use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar with your lock ring remover/installer and turn it in the opposite direction to unlock the ring. While holding up the fuel pump module, take off the top connections, use the quick disconnect tab to remove the fuel feed pipe and pull the lower electrical connectors and the fuel return lines apart. Drain the fuel pump module by tipping it slightly and take it out of the car. Before you begin any servicing, always discard the old O-ring seal and use a new one.

To Install the fuel pump module, put the pump module in the tank and hook up the fuel return lines to the module making sure the lines are attached well. Connect the fuel supply line to the module, locking it in place and then attach the electrical connectors off the bottom of the module top into the module bottom, then install the module top onto the module bottom. Place the marks on the module so the module can be properly oriented and use special tool #9340 to tighten the left side module lock ring to secure the module. Attach the electrical connector to the left side module and replace the plastic access cover folding foam pad to cover the access cover into place. Rear lower seat cushion is reinstalled and the fuel tank is filled. Lastly, attach the negative battery cable, refill the fuel tank and with the scan tool: pressurize the fuel system for leaks.
