Don't bang the knuckle with a hammer; rather, loosen the nut on the tie rod end and use puller 8677 to take the tie rod from the knuckle. Just as before, remove the upper ball joint nut and then use puller 8677 to separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Lift up on the roll pin in the steering knuckle to remove the half shaft from the hub/bearing on 4X4 models. Unscrew the three bolts from the mounting area of the steering knuckle and slide the hub/bearing off the stud. In the last step, take out the brake dust shield.
