Air bag system parts for the Air Bag Control Module should only be replaced with Chrysler Mopar(R) specific parts because similar-looking parts may not work the same which can decrease your protection. Because the Acm has an impact sensor for deploying air bags, it should not be connected with the battery in place so the air bag doesn't deploy accidentally. First, separate and cut off the negative remote cable from the battery. If your transmission is manual, take off the shifter knob and boot and for automatic transmission models, remove the shifter knob and undo the bezel around the indicator. Once done, remove the four screws that hold the floor console and then skip to the next part, the parking brake lever. Remove all four nuts that secure the air cleaner mounting bracket, take off the four wire harness connectors and move the air cleaner from its studs. For fitting, align the arrow forward on the Acm with the center tunnel area mounting studs, add the four mounting nuts and tighten them between 15 and 19 Nm (125 and 160 in. lbs.). It is important to perform the air bag system test procedures before hooking the negative battery remote cable.
