The first step in servicing the water pump is to lift the vehicle, take off the right side splash shield and have access to the grease nipples. Following that, detach the accessory
Drive Belts and take off the
Power Steering Pump, then drain the cooling system. Place something underneath the engine to support it and then remove the right
Engine Mount plus its bracket. Following this, pull out the
Timing Belt, camshaft sprockets and rear timing belt cover. Following that, loosen and remove the screws holding the water pump to the engine. To install, make sure to insert an O-ring gasket into the body of the water pump, correctly settling it to prevent any damage or water leaks. Connect the pump body to the block and make sure the screws are turned to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Set the pressure in the cooling system to 15 pounds per square inch (psi) using a pressure tester, then check below the water pump for leaks. Move the pump around manually to allow it to work comfortably. After that, put in place the rear timing belt cover, place the camshaft sprockets and install the timing belt. Put the engine mount bracket and engine mount back, refill the cooling system and then bolt the power steering pump and the related accessory drive belts in place.
