The Chrysler Clutch Disc transfers torque from the engine to the gearbox to manage power. Since 1925, Chrysler has been producing vehicles whose cars feel solid on uneven pavements and steady once they come to a standstill due to their Floating Power engine mounts. The Airflow's daring styling cuts through wind resistance to enhance cabin comfort. Subsequently, the company created a working version of the minivan that provided families with generous space plus sliding-door access, all at a price that seemed fair and simple. The continuous tweaking of the seating layout, ride tuning, and day-to-day usability shows the brand is more about real-world application than hype. Trendsetting designs and genuine functionality let people drive in complete ease and comfort without the feeling of over-the-top energy flaring which gets people jittery. The mere focus makes miles in a new Chrysler product feel effortless and easy. The value remains clear and options remain simple, so shopping never lags. Each shift, a Clutch Disc grabs in between the flywheel and pressure plate which applies the torque in a clean manner before being released when a pedal is commanded. The heat is shrugged off by the compounded organic facings, while the thin wavy marcel layer dampens engagement and chatter. A sprung-hub Clutch Disc contains coil springs around its splined core to absorb vibration ideal for use with a solid flywheel while a rigid hub suits dual mass applications. Regular inspections ensure that the Clutch Disc is not glazed, so the gear shifts remain smooth, and the driveline of your Chrysler stays quiet, providing the confident feel Chrysler owners have long appreciated.

Chrysler Clutch Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Maintain and Fix a Pressure Plate and Clutch Disc on Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A:
To service and repair the clutch disc and pressure plate remove the transaxle assembly. For the diesel models of a vehicle, paint or scribe mark the position of the pressure plate on the flywheel to facilitate assembly. After loosening and removing the six bolts that attach the pressure plate to the flywheel, remove pressure plate 3 and clutch disc 2. Afterwards, remove the eight bolts that attach the flywheel to the crankshaft. This will allow flywheel assembly 1 to be removed. For gasoline powered models, also begin by removing the transaxle assembly.
  • Q:
How to service the Clutch Disc on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
To service the clutch disc, you must remove the gearbox. Loosen the bolts 1 or one and a half turn, so slowly, and then loosen the bolts on the clutch cover. Prior to coming loose from the bolts on the clutch cover, mark the relationship of the clutch cover to the flywheel, and remove the clutch cover and clutch disc. When the clutch cover is reused, the clutch disc is adjusted at the release diaphragm pressure using an old release bearing or a length of pipe; and the adjusted ring is set at the mark. Place the clutch disc and clutch cover on the flywheel, and loosely fit the bolts of the clutch cover. A universal clutch alignment tool ensures correct alignment of clutch disc to flywheel. Tighten the clutch cover bolts 1 to 1-1/2 turns at a time, until all bolts are seated, then tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) when seated. The removal of the clutch alignment tool prepares for reinstalling the transmission.
