Service and repair should begin with the removal of the cylinder head cover(s). Whenever you remove the engine, make sure to turn the crankshaft to save your valves and pistons from damage. When the cam lobe sits on the base circle (heel) of the rocker arm you are handling, release the tension by pressing on the valve spring using Special Tools 8215 and 8216 Adapter. Gently remove the rocker arm from the top of the cylinder head and remember which location the arms belong to so you can reuse them. Watch out for damage or wear on each rocker arm and take a look at all parts of the cam follower assembly as well, changing anything that is misused or damaged. When installing the rocker arms, apply clean engine oil to them and turn the engine so the cam lobe stands on the base (heel) of the arm you're working with.
