  The first step to changing the camshaft is to remove the covers over the cylinder heads. Turn the engine by the Crankshaft until you see the mark on the Timing Chain cover and the pulley are 40° apart, meaning the camshafts face inward. Let the engine timing be 40° ATDC. Lock the camshafts by first positioning Special Tool 9104 or 9105 Camshaft Locating Plate evenly on the cylinder head, then pushing it into the groove on the camshaft. After that, take out the Timing Chain Tensioner and use a cable tie to connect both timing chains to the camshaft sprockets. First, unbolt the camshaft sprocket and sprocket itself and then begin loosening the bolts mentioned earlier. After that, follow the given order to loosen and remove the bearing bridge bolts and the camshaft bearing bridges.

  Before installing the camshaft, the engine should be at 40°C. At that stage, attach the camshaft bearing bridge at the top of the camshaft. With Special Tools 9104 and 9105, insert each one flushly against the cylinder head and into the groove of the camshaft. Place the bearing bridge bolts in the bearing bridge but do not tighten them, then use a 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs) setting for the short bolts (M7 45) and 10 Nm (8 ft. lbs) for the long bolts (M7 84). Next, tighten the four long M7 84 bolts an extra 90° clockwise and leave the M7 45 bolts loose. After that, install the camshaft sprockets and bolts, turning them to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs) and then 90° more. Set in the Timing Chain Tensioner and tighten it to reach 80 Nm (around 59 ft. lbs), discard the cable tie and take out Special Tools 9104 and 9105. Place the cylinder head covers and air cleaner housing into their respective places now.
