Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and emptying the coolant system into a proper container. Disconnect the
Radiator fan and with it remove the radiator. Once that's done, proceed to remove the accessory
Drive Belt and the starter. Slide Special Tool 9102
Flywheel Locking Tool into the starter opening to hold the flywheel in its place. Following this, take out the vibration damper bolt as well as the damper itself from the
Crankshaft. If there is an oil leak at the front
Crankshaft Seal, it must be replaced promptly. If the vibration damper has a rough sealing rim, rub over it with emery paper or an oil stone to get a smooth finish. If the vibration damper bolt measures over 78 mm in length, change it. Then set the vibration damper at the front of the crankshaft, lubricate its threads with motor oil and place the bolt, tightening first to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.) and then turning it by another 90° clockwise. Install the accessory drive belt and then link the radiator back to the radiator fan. Take out the Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool, install the starter again, connect the battery cable and drive the engine to examine it for leaks.
