Chrysler Crossfire Flywheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install a Flywheel/Flexplate Using New Bolts on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
When you install the flywheel/flexplate, install the new bolts that come with the unit. Place the flywheel/flexplate (3) on the crankshaft pin and get it aligned. Secure the spacer and new flywheel/flexplate bolts (1) to a torque of 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.), rotate them another 90° clockwise and then re-torque them to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). When the vehicle comes with one, install the clutch. Take off Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool (1). Third, introduce the starter and next install the transmission, correctly following the rules for either an automatic or manual transmission.
  • Q: How to Service a Flywheel on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
To do the work on the flex plate or flywheel, first remove the transmission and the starter. Lock the flywheel by placing Special Tool 9102 into the hole where the starter fits. When the clutch is removed, discard all the bolts that hold the flywheel in place. Following this, take out the spacer and the flywheel/flexplate. Check the seal around the rear crankshaft for any oil coming out and replace it if there is an issue. Tighten new bolts onto the flywheel or flexplate for the installation. Put the flywheel/flexplate on the machine and line it up with the crankshaft pin, putting the spacer in place and screwing the bolts in to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) tightness. Twist the bolts again 90 degrees clockwise, fit the clutch in place if it is there, then remove the locking tool. In the end, fix the starter and transmission back into place.
