Before servicing or repairing the shift interlock cable, put your ignition key in the ACC position. Take out the lower instrument panel trim to gain access to the park lock cable and afterward disconnect the park lock cable from the ignition cylinder. If it's necessary, unfasten the floor console and remove the nuts holding the shield over the gearshift and park lock cables. Afterwards, take off the shield. Unclip the park lock cable from the shift linkage by removing the retention tab with a proper screwdriver. Heading into installation, leave the ignition key in the ACC spot and insert the park lock cable into the ignition cylinder. Fasten the cable to the retainer on the instrument panel after connecting it. Attach the instrument panel trim you took apart, aim the park lock cable at the shift and join the cable core with the shift mechanism cam after securing the back of the cable housing to the shift. Adjust the park lock cable when required, replace the shield over the gearshift and park lock cables, set them to the floorpan with bolts and mount the floor console assembly.
