Before beginning service on the control assembly, on vehicles with air bags, disconnect the negative
Battery Cable and let the capacitor discharge for two minutes. Open the hood and remove the negative battery cable from its spot on the remote battery post. Remove the ash receiver assembly if it is required. Then, take out the trim bezel from the inside of the instrument panel and disconnect the two electrical connectors from the back of the control head and traction control switch, if you have one. Remove the six retaining screws behind the center trim bezel from the a/c heater control head and remove the head from the bezel. Before connecting the unit, place the control in the center of the bezel inside the instrument panel and use the six retaining screws to secure it. Connect the two parts to the control head and traction control switch, if fitted and then slide the instrument panel center bezel back into place. If required, put back the ash receiver assembly and next join the negative battery cable remote terminal to the remote battery post. Still, calibrate the HVAC system so that the BCM can learn and control the updated control head.
