How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on Chrysler LHS?

Before working on the intermediate parking brake cable, make sure the vehicle is raised using a suitable hoist or supports it properly on jackstands. Back off the bolt on the tensioner adjuster to release cable tension and after that remove the cable connector between the front cable and the intermediate cable. Release the bolt linking the cable retainer to the body torque box and take out the intermediate cable from the body torque box. Remove the connector from the right rear park brake cable at the tensioner bracket and rotate the box end of a 1/2 inch wrench to remove the intermediate cable from the bracket. Free up the lock on the routing clip for the top park brake cable which is installed above the left rear cable clip on the rear suspension crossmember, followed by removing the intermediate cable entirely. Rout the new intermediate park brake cable from the left side towards the front of the rear crossmember, directing it between the crossmember and the frame rail to cross below both the rear park brake cable and the brake tubes. Attach the middle cable to the tensioner bracket, place the retainer clip back onto the left side of the crossmember around the middle cable and connect the middle cable to the right rear one using a connector. Pass the intermediate cable through the hole in the body torque box and fasten it to the box with the bolt connecting the intermediate cable retainer. After that, join the intermediate cable to the front cable connector, make sure the parking brake is engaged and bring the vehicle down.
