manufacturers are aware that the Brake Caliper is an important component, that is required in the Chrysler LHS well known for their reliability and performance. This brake caliper is responsible for turning hydraulic pressure provided by the master cylinder into mechanical force required to push the brake pads on to rotors in order to provide powerful braking usually required for effective stopping. Chrysler LHS models feature fixed and floating calipers since these components help increase the car's braking effectiveness and protect the driver and passengers. An explanation of the two kinds of calipers is as follows The fixed one has many pistons that provide equal pressure, and the other has to move to place the pressure Free float as a system of the Chrysler begins illustrating its engineering genius. Precisely and skillfully designed being made from cast iron for the body while the pistons are made of steel or phenolic materials, the Brake Caliper is a product designed for the road. It is imperative to do a Routine Check & Maintenance on the Brake Caliper which, if defective can cause severe braking problems that compromise the safety of the vehicle. Brake Caliper fits different LHS models manufactured in 1994-2001, which allows the owners to equip their cars properly. Additional options that are incorporated to boost its effectiveness and design as a Brake Caliper are also other factors that sets this product from the rest in the automotive market. All in all, the Brake Caliper improves the efficiency and safety of the Chrysler LHS and a merging of the ideas of luxury, quality, and performance in the line of luxury sedans made by Chrysler.

Chrysler LHS Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Brake Caliper on Chrysler LHS?
    A:
Before servicing or repairing the front brake caliper, press the brake pedal down using a brake pedal holding tool so that the master cylinder reservoir becomes isolated from the brake system. After setting the car on jacks or a hoist, disconnect and take out the front wheel and tire. Release the banjo bolt that binds the brake flex hose to the caliper so that both washers come with it. Put the two rail shims in place between the brake shoes and the machined surfaces on the knuckle in the photo. Take away the two caliper guide pin bolts, then take off the caliper assembly from the Steering Knuckle by moving the top off the bottom machined abutment and lifting it off, being attentive not to misplace the rail shims. If the rotor needs to be removed, straighten up the wheel mounting studs and pull the rotor off without bending anything. To set up the brake, retract the caliper piston inside the bore and if the rotor was off, put it onto the hub. Coat both machined knuckle abutments with Mopar(R) Brake Grease For Caliper Slides Lubricant or an alternative and rest one rail shim into each abutment with the alignment tabs towards the abutment. Replace all removed components in future by just reversing the initial steps and make sure not to mix up them as you did before. After tightening the guide pin bolts to 22 Nm, insert a banjo bolt into the caliper's mount for the flex hose, leaving a washer on both side and tighten it to 48 Nm. Connect the wheel and tire again, making sure to tighten each mounting nut half-specified by sequence, then tightening all the same mounting nuts again to the specified torque of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Make sure you remove the ramps first and that the brake pedal stays firm before driving. After taking out the brake pedal holder, drain the base brake fluid and try driving to make the brakes bring in and get rid of any foreign material clinging to them.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Brake Caliper on Chrysler LHS?
    A:
First, line up the vehicle with jackstands or a hoist and take off the rear wheel assemblies to service the rear brake caliper. After that, remove the 2 caliper assembly to adapter guide pin bolts. Grasp the top of the caliper, turn it away from the adapter and lower it off the bottom retainer. Support the caliper from the rear strut at the back so you don't damage the flexible brake hose, then pull the rear rotor straight off the wheel studs. Pull the brake piston all the way back into the bore if you replaced brake shoes when installing new pads. Apply Mopar(R) Multipurpose Lubricant or a similar product to the inside of both adapter abutments, then slot the rear rotor into its place, seeing that it sits straight and correctly. Slowly guide the caliper and shoes above the rotor and onto the adapter, ensuring you do not hurt the inside bushing. Avoid cross-threading when setting in the guide pin bolts and tighten them to a torque of 22 Nm (192 inch lbs.). Replace the wheel and tire assembly, make sure to tighten the wheel mounting stud nuts in the right order to half strength, then repeat the process to attain the full torque required by the manufacturer (129 Nm or 95 ft. lbs.). After that, either remove the jackstands or lower the hoist, press the brake pedal several times to test its firmness and drive a few blocks to allow the brakes to get used and settled in.
