Begin the service on the occupant detection sensor by taking off the negative nucleus from your vehicle's battery and waiting for two minutes for the system reserve capacitor to empty, then handle any air bag modules. Pick up the seat as a whole; don't grind or drop the weight sensor or the seat while moving the seat out to prevent any issues with calibration. Insert thread lock paste into the inside of the strain gauge alignment tool 9689 which helps prevent the seat weight sensor lid from rotating when you secure or loosen the sensor stud nut using hand tools during platform installation or removal. With the seat removed, unconnect the seat adjuster riser from the sensors on the seat but make sure the sensor body is held in place with the alignment tool. Cut off each weight sensor electrical connector, guide the fork into the weight sensor and make sure the support yoke presses against the cage. Remove the center stud nut as your first step, then do the same for the other weight sensors and then separate the seat track from the seat risers to finish by taking out the nuts holding the weight sensor to the track.

With the seat removed, unconnect the seat adjuster riser from the sensors on the seat but make sure the sensor body is held in place with the alignment tool.
