Whenever a seat belt or child restraint anchor service is done, observe all seat belts, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps and anchors to ensure their proper installation, operation or condition and replace any cut, frayed or torn belt, straighten any twisted belt, tighten up any loose fasteners and replace any belt with a damaged or unresponsive buckle or retractor, as well as any belt with a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor. Furthermore, if the anchor or the unit it's connected to is bent or damaged, you should replace it with a new one and under no circumstances repair or use damaged seat belt or child restraint equipment; always use the correct, unused replacement parts listed in the daimlerchrysler Mopar catalog. Make sure you don't take apart the seat belt tensioner and refrain from eliminating sounds by fixing them with oil or grease. To get started, bring the seat to its furthest frontward setting and take off the negative cable from the battery, waiting for two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Take off the bolt cover on the seat and remove the bolt at the end of the belt joining it to the seat. After that, remove the screws that secure the plastic cover to the opening, then the cover and the door edge guard. Disconnect the belt guide from the vehicle using the bolt, then fold back the carpet in the upper corner area and pull apart the connector for the seat belt tensioner squib harness without pulling on the wires or prying on the insulator. The last step is to unbolt the seat belt tensioner to the vehicle and pull it out.
