How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on Chrysler 300?

Before servicing or repairing the brake light switch, press and hold down the brake pedal. Pull the switch (2) off its bracket (6) on the brake assembly after rotating it counterclockwise a little less than a quarter turn. Take off the wiring harness connector (1) from the switch. Be sure the plunger extends fully and gets into the locked position before attaching the stop lamp switch. Attach connector 1 to the stop lamp switch 2. Press the brake down, put the switch into place with the index key matching the square hole notch and turn the switch 30 degrees clockwise to fix it. Use only a light amount of strength when adjusting your brake pedal so as not to harm the stop lamp switch or striker. Pull the brake back until you stop, making the switch move backward into place. Last, make sure both the brake lamps and the speed control are working well.

How to Properly Install a Brake Light Switch on Chrysler Town & Country?

Do not use the former brake lamp switch, since it can only be adjusted one time when first installing it. When a switch is either taken out or adjusted wrongly, a new switch needs to be put in. Initially connect the wire end to the switch and then lock the tab in place. Install the switch in its plastic bracket by matching the small square on the switch to the slot in the bracket. With the switch in place, rotate it to the right as far as it will go, at least 30°. With the brake pedal not pressed in, switch the lever on the back of the brake lamp switch from its angled position to its straight or vertical position. After that, attach the silencer panel below the knee block and connect the battery's negative wire, then check if the stop lamps do not light up after the pedal is released. Practice a test drive to check if the brakes, ABS and any speed control system are functioning properly.
