Chrysler Prowler Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Position Sensor on Chrysler Prowler?
    A:
You should disconnect the negative Battery Cable as the first step when servicing or repairing the Throttle Position Sensor. After that, unplug the TPS from its electrical connector and remove the mounting screws to pull out the TPS. Be sure that the throttle shaft on the Throttle Body fits into the TPS socket which has two tabs that the shaft should rest up against. When you index the TPS correctly, it can be rotated clockwise a little so that its mounting screw holes line up with the throttle body's and it will feel slightly tight when in place. Should you find rotation hard, reinstall the sensor on the other side of the mounting tabs, so the throttle shaft is now on that side. Make sure to use 6.2 Nm (55 in. lbs.) torque when tightening the screws for the mounting bracket. After fitting the TPS, be sure that the throttle plate is closed; if it's still open, place the sensor on the other side of the tabs. Lastly, attach the electrical connector to the TPS and put back the negative battery cable.
