To begin, take out the air cleaner lid, remove the inlet air sensor from its hose and lastly, remove the negative
Battery Cable. Release the upper generator lock nut and lift your car with a hoist. First, take out the right front wheel, the accessory drive splash shield and pencil strut; then, give both the lower pivot bolt and T-bolt for the accessory
Drive Belt a loose turn. Loose the wire from the B+ terminal rod and nut, remove the connection from the generator to the field circuit and lift off the generator belt. After that, remove the axle retaining nut and the lower
Control Arm from the
Steering Knuckle and take the shaft out, ensuring a container is under the transmission to catch any released fluid. Unfasten the two bolts at the bottom-one from the ground, one from the upper T-bolt-and get the generator out from the car. For installation, secure the generator where you want it and set in place the bolt and nut loosely. Then, fit the generator belt and tighten it. Secure the steering knuckle by tightening the lower pivot bolt to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.), then fit the
Axle Shaft and control arm and tighten the lower
Ball Joint nut and axle retaining nut. Place the pencil strut back, fit the B+ terminal nut and wire and tighten them as recommended to 11.3 N.m (100 ins. lbs.). Connect the field circuit to the generator, set the accessory drive splash shield back in place and place the right front wheel, then lower the vehicle. For the final step, use a torque wrench to turn the T-bolt locknut up to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.), attach the negative battery cable again and put the air cleaner lid on. Don't forget to install the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup hose, too. Afterward, check the transmission fluid.
