Cooling system drain first to service and repair the radiator drain plug. After this, open the draincock. To do this, turn it counterclockwise until it stops. After it has stopped, turn it clockwise a 1/8 turn back. Finally, take out the draincock from the radiator tank. Care should be taken as using pliers to grip the draincock is not recommended as it may damage the radiator or draincock. Casual draining of the coolant does not require the draincock to be removed, it's important to note.
