The first step for service and repair is to disconnect the negative
Battery Cable and to remove the air cleaner box. Then, take out the 2 bolts attached to the
EGR Tube on the EGR valve and afterwards, remove the 2 bolts connecting the EGR valve to the cylinder head. First, unplug the transducer's connector from the negative ignition wire to disconnect the vacuum hose, then pull out the assembly made up of the EGR valve and transducer. Wipe down the areas on the EGR tube and cylinder head head where the EGR valve will fit, install a new gasket over the EGR valve and transducer and put in the bolts, but do not tighten them yet. After installing the 2 bolts from the EGR tube to the EGR valve, tighten both sets of screws at 22.9 N.m (202 in. lbs.). Reattach the electrical connector from the EGR transducer and the vacuum hose as well. After that, put back the air cleaner box and link the negative battery cable again.
