Before you remove or change the EGR assembly, unattach the negative battery cable and remove the air cleaner box. After that, take out the 2 bolts holding the EGR tube to the EGR valve and the 2 bolts connecting the EGR valve to the cylinder head. After taking out the solenoid's electrical connector, disassemble the EGR valve and be sure to remove the old gasket after you have cleaned the gasket surfaces and EGR passages, if needed. Attach the electrical connector to the EGR transducer first, then connect the vacuum hose and after that set the air cleaner box and restore the negative battery cable.

The first step for service and repair is to disconnect the negative battery cable and to remove the air cleaner box. Then, take out the 2 bolts attached to the EGR tube on the EGR valve and afterwards, remove the 2 bolts connecting the EGR valve to the cylinder head.
