Make sure the cable assembly fits in the floor pan hole first and put in the grommet (3) inside the hole using a bit of synthetic-based lubricant if needed for installation. After that, put the cable into its place in the retainer clip (2) and secure it to run the cable up to the transaxle shift lever. Position the car on lowered jack stands and, while attached, connect the cable to the bracket on the transaxle and to the transaxle shaft lever. Connect end (2) of the cable to portion (3) of the shifter conduit bracket and then place end (4) of the shift cable over the pin. Place the shift lever on the floor and the transaxle shift lever in Park before tightening the cable adjuster nut to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Install the center console (1) and put on the gearshift bezel (2), then set the gearshift knob (1) on, tightening its set screw (2) practically as tight as you can by hand. In addition, confirm that the adjustment of the cables ensures the engine starter only works when the gear shift is in Park or Neutral.
