When checking the tension of the power steering pump/air conditioning compressor drive belt, the engine must be off. Position the belt onto all of the pulleys except the power steering pump pulley. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise with a wrench; install the belt onto the power steering pump pulley and release the spring tension. Following installation, check the belt length indicator marks 2, 3 and 5 to see that the indicator is between the minimum and maximum length marks and that it approximately lines up with the nominal length mark for a new belt. At last, install the belt splash shield.
