If you want to service the rocker arm assembly in your car with bent valves, take out the cylinder head cover, gas supply line and spark plugs first. Rotate the engine so that the kamshaft lobe of the follower you're removing is on its base circle and the distance between the piston and TDC is at least 6.3 mm (0.25 inches). If you reuse cam follower assemblies, note the places they were located before removal to find them again. Apply Special Tools 8215 and 8436 to carefully press the valve assembly while you pop out the rocker arm. Sometimes, extra brackets have to be taken off to ensure there is enough room for the tool handle. Check all the rocker arms for damage or signs of wear and replace those that are damaged. Once your engine oil is applied, use Special Tools 8215 and 8436 to lower the valve assembly little by little until the rocker arm fits on the lifter and stem. Set up each rocker arm, moving on to the spark plugs, fuel rail and finally the cylinder head cover.
