To disconnect the steering wheel, turn the key in the lock position, take out your key and move the wheel a half turn left to lock it into place. Then, take out the 3 bolts connecting the
Air Bag module to the steering wheel and raise the air bag module. Take the wiring connectors off of the air bag, the switch to the horn and the switches for speed control and disconnect the clip on the wiring harness from the air bag module studs. If your car has remote radio controls and the spring is secured, depress the tang to get it loose and slide it apart. Without banging or hammering, remove the steering wheel retaining nut from the shaft and the damper from the steering wheel. Have someone use the steering wheel puller to separate the steering wheel. Start by matching the master splines on the steering wheel to the
Clock Spring, then install the steering wheel on the shaft and thread all electrical connections from the clock spring where they are meant to go. Before fixing the damper, make sure the rubber isolator is in good condition so that noise doesn't become an issue. Put the steering wheel damper in the right spot and then screw the steering wheel retaining nut on, tightening it to reach 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Attach the wire from the clock spring to the remote radio control connector, then run the wires for the air bag, horn switch and speed control switches and place the wire routing clip on the air bag module studs. After that, fit the air bag module onto the steering wheel and use the 3 bolts to secure it, tightening them all to the same 11 Nm (100 inch lbs.) torque.
