    Begin by turning loose the jam nut between the inner and outer tie rod. Unattach the nut joining the outer tie rod end and the Steering Knuckle by holding the stud of the tie rod end with a 11/32 socket and using a wrench on the nut. Use the Remover, Special Tool C-3894-A to remove the tie rod link from the steering knuckle arm and then un-thread the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod. The cloudy plastic piece should be in place on the inner tie rod before you put on the outer tie rod. Untighten the inner tie rod and insert the outer tie rod. Push the tie rod end into the steering knuckle and start the nut on the end of the rod toward the steering knuckle. While keeping the stud stationary, tighten the attaching nut, then attach a crowfoot and 11/32 socket to tighten the nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). After that, set the tie rod jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) and check that the steering gear boot is not twisted while you tighten it. Adjust the front toe setting at the same time.
