The Heater Core in Dodge Avenger cars is one of the most important components which is involved in providing warm air into the car cabin when the Heater is switched ON. It work akin to the radiator but comprises of a water and antifreeze solution, which is used to transfer excess heat from the engine to the car interior. Made in aluminum or brass, the Heater Core has thin slits to improve heat exchange with air being blown over the core by a fan to warm the vehicle cabin. The Dodge avenger cars may consist of different types of heat control features such as valve to control the flowing of coolant and sophisticated systems that contain electric and mechanical actuators for fine and accurate regulation of temperature control mechanism. In addition to heating the cabin, the Heater Core can function as extra radiator and thus help in cooling the engine. Some of the problems associated with Heater Core are clogging, leaks, and corrosion, mainly because of the dashboard dismantling for work on the Heater Core.

Dodge Avenger Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Heater Core on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
The first step to handling the heater core is to take out the instrument panel which demands to take apart the car's body, frame, interior trim and dashboard. Take out the console under the seats so as not to graze the SRS-ECU or anything attached to it. To take out a brightness clip, push the pin in the clip's center using a Phillips-head screwdriver until the clip moves out about 2 mm (.08 in.) Avoid sliding the pin deeply or you might damage the grommet and lose it. Glide the cooling unit a little toward you and take out the heater after that. While putting in the clip, first push the pin outwards, add the clip into the hole and push back the pin until its head is touching the grommet.
