Before servicing and repairing the starter motor on a 2.0 or 2.4L engine, take off the air cleaner box and the air tube. After that, disconnect and separate the battery negative cable. Unscrew the bolt holding the starter motor and take off the connector at the throttle. With the bolts out, get rid of the throttle body. Put the starter under the intake manifold, tilt its nose toward the cooling module and then raise it up and out. Lastly, take out the starter motor wiring and remove the starter motor from the place it was mounted.
