Be sure to remove and detach the negative
Battery Cable ahead of removing the A/C suction line, since you still need to recover refrigerant from the system. On diesel cars, take away the bolt joining the right front impact sensor to the
Radiator Support and align the sensor for proper clearance. Before you begin on gasoline models, raise the car, remove the right front wheel, pull out the right front
Wheelhouse splash shield and take off the drive belt splash shield to access the A/C suction line. Afterward, remove the nut that holds the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor, unhook the line and for diesel models, raise the car, take off the right front wheel again, lower the splash shield. Take off the nut keeping the front and rear portions of the A/C suction line together, then take out the lines from each part and remove the front A/C line from the engine section, wasted the seals and gaskets as you proceed. Apply a plug or tape across the opened fitting for the suction line and the compressor port. Once more, take off the battery's negative cable and safety recover the refrigerant from the suction and liquid line assembly. Support the vehicle and carefully take off the right front tire. Then, set the splash shield to one side. Take out the nut that joins the A/C suction line at the front to the rear, separate the lines and throw away the O-ring seal and gasket. For every model except late gasoline engine cars with a four-speed automatic transaxle, pull the A/C suction line off the plastic bracket on the A/C receiver/drier, take out the nut securing the A/C liquid line to the receiver/drier and unhook the liquid line, replacing both the O-ring seal and the gasket. If the vehicle is late model, loosen the A/C suction line bracket from the frame rail, detach the nut securing the liquid line to the
A/C Condenser, pull the A/C suction line from the system and throw away the O-ring seal and gasket. Lower one side of the body a bit, take out the nuts holding the heat shield to the study and then pull off the heat shield. Relocate the windshield
Washer Reservoir,
Power Steering Reservoir and engine
Coolant Reservoir so that you don't need to drain any fluids before parking the car. Loose the bolt that holds the bracket with the refrigerant line, then for RHD cars, pull the retainers freeing the power brake vacuum hose from the dash panel. Remove the bolt holding the A/C suction and liquid line assembly to the
A/C Expansion Valve, pull out the assembly, discard the O-ring seals and drive the assembly out from the engine compartment. As your last step, attach plugs or cover open refrigerant line fittings, the expansion valve and both receiver/drier or condenser ports with tape.
