You should drive the vehicle straight forward, then disconnect the battery negative wire to disable the
Air Bag system before getting started. Simply let the capacitor in the system discharge for two whole minutes. After that, uninstall the driver air bag and unplug the wiring connector from the
Clock Spring. Tightly gripping the steering wheel, undo the bolt that is holding the steering wheel to the shaft. Be sure that the puller jaws touch the entire steering wheel base to avoid slipping during installation. Pull the retaining bolt all the way into the shaft until almost 13 mm (0.5 in.) of thread is seen between the wheel and the bolt head. Take the screw off the speed control switch to fit the puller tool into the hole and then fit the puller as well. Never hit or knock the steering wheel or shaft while taking it off. Lastly, keeping the steering wheel straight, remove the puller, the steering wheel and then the bolt that keeps the steering wheel in place.
