Dodge Caliber Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Install a Tie Rod End on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
The first step for installing the outer tie rod end is to put the jam nut on the inner tie rod threads if it is off. As before, install the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod with nearly the same revolutions. Following that, thread the inner tie rod down as far as it will fit without locking the outer tie rod. Fit the connection post into the hole in the knuckle arm, thread on a tie rod mounting nut and keep the lock nut inside the knuckle arm until later. Tighten the nut to 132 Nm (97 ft. lbs.) when you are holding the tie rod end stud together with a wrench. After that, put in the tire and wheel assembly and fasten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Park the vehicle in neutral and twist the front wheel toe nut until the alignment is correct. After the wheels are toed, tighten the tie rod jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
