    Q: How to Align a Clock Spring on Dodge Caravan?

    Align the Steering Wheel and front tires on the car before starting to put in the Clock Spring. Open the hood once the Hood Latch is removed and unplug the negative battery cable. Allow at least two minutes for the system reserve capacitor to drain electricity before working on the Air Bag. Take out the driver air bag from the steering wheel and remove the wire connectors from the rear of the air bag. If possible, disconnect the 2-way connector on the remote radio harness from the radio and unplug the 4-way harness connector attached to the speed control/horn unit from the Clock Spring. Take out the steering wheel and rotate the Clock Spring rotor, turning it clockwise, until the movement stops. When done with the travel, turn the rotor two times counterclockwise until the wires are on top. Refit the steering wheel and join the 4-way harness connector to the speed control/horn harness as well as the 2-way harness to the remote radio control harness. Install the driver air bag now and tighten both the screws to the indicated torque value of 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Personal safety or death can result if you attach the negative battery cable before the system test is performed correctly, so never do this.

    Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable prior to starting any Air Bag system service to make sure the air bags aren't accidentally deployed and keep you safe. Give the system capacitor two minutes to discharge before handling air bag parts. Make sure the Steering Wheel and front wheels point straight forward, let the latch go and lift the hood. Section off the air bag by taking it out of the steering wheel and separating the wires from the back connector of the module, as well as the connector from the 2-way remote radio control harness. Afterward, get rid of the steering wheel and the shrouds around the steering column. Unscrew the four connectors-2-way and 5-way-attached to the Clock Spring and the instrument panel wiring harness, then take out the Clock Spring by pressing its two tabs.
