To work on any SCCM part, you must fully remove the assembly from the steering column, so you don't harm the Clock Spring pins and end up with the air bag not working, possibly resulting in a serious or deadly injury. Make sure the
Steering Wheel and the front wheels are turned straight before you begin to drive. Before driving anywhere, make sure the steering wheel and front wheels are parallel to the front of the car. After that, remove the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). At that point, take off the Clock Spring. There are around 5 3/4 turns from lock-to-lock on the Clock Spring; once in place, turn the Clock Spring rotor in a clockwise direction only as far as it goes. With the travel switch off, rotate the rotor counterclockwise so that the arrow faces the 12 o'clock mark and then turn the rotor an extra two times back to 12 o'clock. Just as before, secure the rotor to make sure it doesn't accidentally turn until you place the SCCM back into the vehicle. Once complete, you should install the SCCM. Lastly, fit the wire pigtail routing clip over the lower left air bag stud and remove the sticky cover that kept the Clock Spring secure. Attaching the negative cable to the battery must wait until the system test is done; connecting it before then may injure or kill someone.
