Gently push the field coil toward the compressor so that the dowel pin placed at the back of the coil is inside the hole in the A/C compressor's front, checking that the wire is not being squeezed. A new snap ring needs to hold the compressor clutch field coil on the A/C compressor, so the bevel side faces out and the eyelets line up with either the left or right edges of the dowel pin. Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or an equivalent tool can be used to place the snap ring that fastens the compressor field coil after you ensure the ring is fully in the right groove. Prevent untimely contact with the friction plate by not harming the pulley and bearing assembly. Repeat with fitting the pulley and bearings onto the compressor; use a block of wood to gently tap them on if you find it hard to get them in place. A new snap ring needs to be used to bind the pulley and bearing together, with the bevel showing from the outside. Again, using Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or an equivalent, set the snap ring that holds the pulley and bearing assembly in place and make sure it is completely seated. If you are exchanging the original clutch plate and pulley and bearing assembly, fit the original shim(s) onto the compressor shaft; if using miethod "If you need to reinstall the old clutch plate and pulley and bearing assembly, put back the shims that came with the compressor and align water pump and crankshaft using the standard shims from your engine which are 2.54mm thick. Gently place the clutch plate onto the compressor's front and put the bolt through it, turning it until it reaches 19 Nm. After the tightening, inspect the air gap in many different places, turning the pulley a little before making the final check. A blade-type feeler gauge should be your choice for model air gaps of 0.35 - 0.60 mm, regardless of clutch recess. Rout the wire from the compressor clutch coil behind the connector bracket, snap the connector onto the bracket, match up the engine wire harness to the connector, install the accessory
Drive Belt, add the radiator fan and shroud assembly and for 5.7L and 6.1L engine vehicles, install the air cleaner housing and air intake hose, after which reconnect the negative
Battery Cable.
