Place both isolators, upper (1) and lower (5), fully onto the coil spring (2) before proceeding. After that, add the spring and isolators into the spring pocket of the spring link and ensure the lower isolator fits into the pocket's shape and the coil spring is aligned with the body mount. Install the shock by sticking the lower end into the spring link's pocket, then tip the top inward to fit it into the upper holes. At first, just secure the lower shock mounting bolt without tightening it; leave the nut alone too. In AWD cars, make sure the spacers over the crossmember mount bushings are installed in the proper way. Raise the jack cautiously and direct the coil spring and upper
Shock Absorber section into the mountings, then connect and tighten the upper mounting screws to 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.). Since the rear (2) crossmember mounting bolts are longer than the front (3), do not substitute them. Install the two crossmember mounting bolts (2 and 3), but don't tighten them completely for now. From the tension link, measure the distance (1) to the body weld flange (3) in front and just outboard of the front mount bushing (4). Make sure this distance is no less than 12 mm to support proper movement of the suspension. If the space is smaller than 12 mm, move that section of the rear crossmember rearward until there is at least a 12 mm gap. While doing so, loosen 3 bolts from the mounting on that side and keep the fourth on the opposite side nice and snug to pivot the mount. Once it is at least 12 mm, tighten up the loose bolts and check the remaining fourth bolt to ensure that is snugged down and keeps the minimum space. Apply 180 Nm (133 ft. lbs.) to each crossmember bolt (2 and 3) and then take the jack (3) away from under the rear axle differential. If the exhaust was lowered earlier, raise it back to where it belongs, link the isolators at the hanger spots for the
Muffler and resonators and take out the jack or stand enclosing the exhaust muffler. Mount the tire and wheel assemblies (1), fasten the wheel mounting nuts (3) to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) (190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.) for Police models) and install the fuel filler tube. Drop the vehicle down and park it on an alignment rack or a lift, raise the lift to reach the needed spot for the lower bolt. Take care to tighten the shock absorber lower mounting bolt nut (4) to 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.).
