Before touching anything in the engine oil cooler, drain the cooling system first. Lift the car up on a hoist and take off the two coolant hoses from the oil cooler. After that, unscrew the oil filter and its fastener that connect to the center of the oil cooler. After that, remove the oil cooler as well.

Make sure the oval cut-out on the top of the oil cooler seal retainer flange lines up with the tab on the oil pan, so the oil cooler doesn't turn as you tighten it. Afterward, fit the oil cooler using the fastener and tighten it to a value of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Then, place the new oil filter and join the coolant hoses to the oil cooler. Set the truck on the ground and add the coolant to the system. Start the car and look for any leaks and after that, check the oil level and add some if it's low.
