Heater Core in Dodge Charger automobiles involves the system in charging heat to the cabin through excess heat of the engine. Looking like a smaller version of the radiator, the Heater Core is a part of the coolant circulation; the hot coolant from the engine enters this component as drinking water mixed with antifreeze and then the warmed air enters the cabin. Depending on the specific Heater Core, there may be different temperature control elements, for example, valves or doors, as well as electromechanical actuators and thermistors in systems of the top level. Heater Core also has a function of dehumidification in air-conditioned Chargers and can also act as an extra radiator of the engine cooler. Nevertheless, problems including blockage, leakage, and rust will necessitate repairs for the Heater Core because it entails difficult disassembly.

Dodge Charger Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Heater Core in the HVAC Air Distribution Housing on Dodge Charger?
    A:
Align the heater core with the front of the heating and cooling section, then line up its tubes with the HVAC housing. Following this, attach the heater core retaining bracket to the air distribution housing and hold it in place with the provided screw until you've tightened it to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Attach the flange above the heater core tubes into the HVAC housing and hold it securely with the two flange retaining screws, tightening each to 2.2 Nm / 20 in. lbs. Installing the Blend Door Actuator should be done on the driver side of the air distribution housing for LHD versions. Place the HVAC housing assembly, rejoin the negative Battery Cable and if the heater core is new, clean out the system. Make sure the cooling system for your engine is topped up, the refrigerant removed as needed and that the refrigerant is properly charged after service.
