Its importance cannot be overemphasized since it is among the critical aspects that contributes to the improvement of the efficiency of the Dodge Dakota as well as its safety. Compatible with various Dakota models produced from 1986 to 2010, the Battery Tray has undergone design variations to accommodate different sizes, materials, and mounting mechanisms, yet its primary purpose remains consistent: is to provide protection to the battery. Thus, the flexible design underlines the fact that the Battery Tray is a reliable and long-lasting product that has not lose its focus on quality even if moving to the next generation. First of all, it is significant to determine that the Battery Tray's structure is relatively heavy and provides a positive impact on the performance of the Dodge Dakota that will help its owners to use a car for everyday tasks and hard-driving duties. Other special attributes, including the ability to resist corrosion and easy to mount increase the Battery Tray differentiation in the car market and make it the premier for Dakota car owners. Finally, the Battery Tray holds the battery in position and, at the same time, raises the level of reliability in the car, thus guaranteeing the further functionality of the Dodge Dakota for the intended users.

Dodge Dakota Battery Tray Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Battery Tray on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
Before working with the battery tray, securely detach the battery negative cable, take out the battery and detach the battery temperature sensor. After that, remove the Integrated Power Module (IPM) and the bolts holding the Antilock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) in place from the battery tray. Unplug the battery negative cable retaining pushpins and the engine compartment wire harness retaining pushpins and lastly disconnect the left headlamp assembly. Carefully remove all of the bolts securing the battery tray, along with the six at the top and then hoist the vehicle to get to the left front fender liner. Unscrew the screws holding the lower battery tray, bring down the vehicle and remove the battery tray. Before putting the battery tray back into the vehicle, clean and inspect it first. Attach the six stomp bolts above the batteries and the two forward bolts by hand and then raise the car again to secure the two lower bolts. Tighten them to 10.2 N.m (90 in. lbs.). Put in the left front fender liner, lower the car and seal the upper battery tray with a torque of 10.2 N.m (90 in. lbs.) and the two front battery tray bolts with an 8.5 N.m (75 in. lbs.) torque. After that, secure the engine compartment wire harness pushpins and the battery negative pushpins and then tighten the bolts on the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit to 18 N.m (160 in. lbs.). Set the battery temperature sensor, install the Integrated Power Module (IPM) and put in the battery, then check to see if the vehicle runs normally.
  • Q: How to remove a battery tray on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
Initially, disconnect the negative Battery Cable before you take out the battery tray. After that, get rid of the battery. Following this, pull off the IPM (1) and HCU (3) by turning the two bolts in the battery tray. Remove the pushpins (5) from the battery negatives cable and (3) from the engine compartment wire harness under the battery tray (2). Following that, get rid of the left headlamp assembly and the bolts securing the battery tray, especially the six upper bolts. Gently raise the car on a hoist and open the bolt hole on the left front fender liner to remove the liner (1). After completing the above, take out the lower battery tray bolts (2), lower the vehicle and remove the battery tray from the car (2).
