The process starts with isolating the battery negative cable by disconnecting it and then you need to remove the
Instrument Cluster from the instrument panel. After that, undo the two screws holding the gear indicator mechanism to the back of the instrument cluster housing and lift it out. Lift off the cover over the steering column opening in the instrument panel and pull the loop end of the cable away from the lever on the left side of the column. Press together the sides of the plastic adjuster and bracket unit to come apart from the sides of the steering column window, then remove the gear selector indicator mechanism and cable from the instrument panel. To mount the mechanism, fit the gear selector indicator to the instrument panel, squeeze together the two sections of the plastic adjuster and bracket, then place the loop of cable onto the gear lever nearby in the steering wheel. Position the gear selector indicator mechanism onto the rear of the instrument cluster housing and add and tighten the two screws to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.). Put the instrument cluster into position on the instrument panel, check that the gear selector indicator is working well and after any adjustments, install the steering column opening cover onto the instrument panel before reconnecting the battery's negative cable.
