  You will find the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) placed on the side of the Throttle Body. Open the Air Duct on the throttle body first, then come apart with an electrical connector on the TPS. After that, take off the TPS by removing the two bolts on its mounting bracket. The first time you attach the throttle body, make sure its throttle shaft gets into a matching socket on the TPS. If the TPS does not rotate, move the sensor's throttle shaft to the side that's opposite the socket tangs, as it will apply some pressure when rotated. Place the TPS back into the pump along with the two tightening bolts and tighten each to 60 in. lbs. (7 Nm) torque. Once installed, try out the throttle control lever to find out if the TPS is binding, reattach the TPS wiring connector and finally place the air duct back at the throttle body.

  The TPS is located on the Throttle Body in the engine. Unhook the air resonator tube from the throttle body to begin and next disconnect the Transmission Position Sensor electrical cable. After that, take out the two TPS mounting screws and remove the TPS. To fit the throttle body, slide its shaft end into the square on the TPS and check that the sensor has some freedom to rotate; if it can't rotate, attach the throttle body with its shaft on the opposite side of the TPS tangs, because the TPS will be lightly tensed. Screw in the TPS and its retaining screws, applying 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) of torque. Attach the TPS electrical connector and check by hand that the throttle moves smoothly, before you start the engine. Then, set the air cleaner tube back into the throttle body.
