In case of damage to the O-ring of the sensor, replace it. Lubricate the O-ring of the sensor you are installing with clean engine oil before installing the sensor. To prevent damage to the sensor mounting tang, push the crankshaft position sensor into the transmission case with a twist until fully seated with the mounting surface and completely flush. Install and torque the retaining bolt to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) with the sensor held in place. Next, connect and lock the electrical connector to the sensor. Then connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Any time powertrain repair has been performed, flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft and crankshaft sensor replacement, the Procedure must be performed.
