How to Service and Repair an Inner Tie Rod on Dodge Grand Caravan?

In order to service the inner tie rod, you will need to first remove the outer tie rod. Once you do that you will need to remove the tie rod jam nut from the inner tie rod. To get to the right inner tie rod, unfasten the screws and push-pins securing the heat shield over the right side of the steering gear. Then, remove the heat shield from over the steering gear bellows. Subsequently, disconnect the clamp fastening the bellows to the inner tie rod and the clamp fastening the bellows to the steering gear body, and then remove the bellows. Attach the correct tool for removing the inner tie rod to the inner tie rod hex. If the inner tie rod cannot be removed with the recommended tools, do not strike the inner tie rod with a hammer or apply heat to it. Such actions may damage the steering gear and may require total steering gear replacement. Finally, unthread and separate the inner tie rod from the steering mechanism.
