First, turn off the air bag system on cars with air bags by unhooking the negative battery terminal for at least two minutes, then service the control assembly. Open the hood and pull out the negative
Battery Cable remote terminal from the remote battery post. Should you need to, separate the ash receiver assembly from the system. Following that, take out the instrument panel center trim piece and remove the two electrical links from the backside of the control panel and traction control switch, if such a switch is present. With your fingers, pick out the a/c heater control head from the bezel and under the center trim bezel, remove the six retaining screws. To install, set the control in position at the rear of the center bezel and hold it there with the six retaining screws. Join the two electrical connectors on the back of the control head and traction switch and put in the instrument panel center bezel and ash receiver assembly if required. Lastly, rejoin the negative battery cable remote terminal to the remote battery post and complete basic HVAC system calibration so the BCM can get familiar with the new control head.
