First, turn off the air bag system by taking
Battery Cable number 1 off and wait two minutes to let the capacitor discharge. After removing the vehicle's HVAC housing, remove the recirculation door actuator, recirculation door and the actuator housing. Take off the upper housing screws, identify the center plate on the HVAC housing indicated for evaporator access and gently lift the lock using a flat tool. Twist the plate counterclockwise and slide it inside the HVAC housing. Pull the evaporator from the lower housing. To install, attach the evaporator probe to the new evaporator and then set the evaporator into the below housing unit as before. Place the access plate with the locking tab turned one-quarter clockwise. After that, turn it counter-clockwise, seat the locking tab and secure the top HVAC section to the bottom with 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) of torque. Install the recirculation door and housing after that and secure the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Return the A/C housing to your vehicle, empty the A/C system and then charge it. There should be no kinks or sharp bends in the refrigerant hose, the radius of a bend should be ten times the diameter and flexible hose lines should be at least 80 millimeters (3 inches) from the
Exhaust Manifold. Check for the condition and proper installation of all flexible hose refrigerant lines at least annually.
