The Dodge Intrepid Piston Ring Set stands out for its high performance marks together with outstanding reliability which makes it central for maintaining both engine longevity and operational efficiency. Since 1993 until 2004 Dodge released different versions of the Intrepid and this Piston Ring Set was created exclusively for those vehicles to maintain the combustion chamber's seal and enable proper fuel-air mixture combustion while managing the loss of gas and maintaining correct engine oil consumption. Thinner ring configurations make up the advanced design of the Dodge Intrepid Piston Ring Set as its top and second rings measure at 1mm and its oil control rings at 2mm. These designs reduce friction while tightly sealing the engine. The piston rings utilize ductile iron and steel materials with exclusive coatings to resist high temperatures as a result of modern advancements in piston ring development. The Dodge Intrepid Piston Ring Set boosts both engine efficiency and vehicle reliability since it maintains dependable operation in all driving situations. The Piston Ring Set shows exceptional performance and durability thanks to its compatibility with Base and ES and R/T Intrepid vehicle models. A Dodge Intrepid Piston Ring Set provides drivers with both enhanced fuel economy and better driving performance which establishes itself as a vital component to maintain strong Dodge model engine performance.

Dodge Intrepid Piston Ring Set Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What is the Purpose of a Piston Ring Set on Dodge Intrepid?
    A:
To maintain the Piston ring, first separate the piston and connecting rod, then expel the No. 1 and No. 2 piston rings with a ring expander; following is the removal of the upper and lower side rails and the oil ring expander. After that, check that the piston rings have clearance to the cylinder bore and piston, with the No. 2 ring facing up towards the top of the piston, according to the company's designation (a dot on the ring). First place the oil ring expander, followed by the upper oil ring side rail, then the lower oil ring side rail, then No. 2 intermediate piston ring and lastly the No. 1 upper piston ring. For the side rail installation, place the end of the side rail over the expander, but without the ring expander touching, press firmly so the side rail is installed while the ring is between the piston ring groove and the expander. Instead of the piston rings, you should install the upper rail first, then the lower rail and then install the piston rings - starting with the No. 2 ring and finishing with the No. 1 ring. Make the piston ring ring gaps correct and put the oil ring expander gap at least 45° away from the side rail gaps; don't place it on the piston pin center or in the thrust direction, as ring stagger helps to control the oil.
  • Q: How to Properly Install a Piston Ring Set on Dodge Intrepid?
    A:
Before inserting the ring, clean the cylinder bore; then, put in the ring and press it down with the Piston for a square fit. Try to measure the ring gap with a feeler gauge at least 12 mm (0.50 in.) from the bottom of the cylinder bore, as the ring is placed. The following step is to inspect the width between the outer ring and the groove in the cylinder block. To take out the piston and rod, remove the connecting rod and piston, then apply a ring expander tool to eject No. 1 and No. 2 piston rings, the upper oil ring side rail, lower oil side rail and both ends of the oil ring expander. Before installation, double-check how much space remains between the cylinder bore, piston and piston rings. The manufacturers determine the placement of the No. 2 ring by its I.D. dot (dot on the top). Place the piston rings in the engine from the following top to bottom: oil ring expander, upper oil ring side rail, lower oil ring side rail, No. 2 intermediate piston ring and No. 1 upper piston ring. For the side rail installation, place one end between the piston ring groove and the expander, grip firmly and push down enough to place the side rail in position without the piston ring expander. Begin by setting up the upper rail; after, fit the lower rail next and then add the No. 2 and No. 1 piston rings. Make sure the piston ring end gaps are in place and that the oil ring expander gap is at least 45° over from the side rail gaps, not on the piston pin center or in the thrust direction, as fins should be staggered to control oil properly.
