Dodge Intrepid Radiator Drain Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to service a Radiator Drain Plug on Dodge Intrepid?
    A:
To work on the radiator drain plug, drain the cooling system. Never unscrew or remove the cylinder block plug or radiator draincock while the system is hot and under pressure. Serious burns from hot coolant may occur. Using pliers to operate draincock will damage it, do not remove draincock unless it is leaking. You will need to turn the draincock stem counterclockwise 180 degree to the 9:00 o'clock position and pull the draincock assembly from the radiator tank. Take a good look at the draincock body and also the O-ring for damage. Orient the draincock assembly horizontally to the opening in the tank with the manufacturer's identification mark facing down and push the assembly into the opening in the tank rotating clockwise until it snaps in place. To finish, close the draincock stem by turning it to the right until it comes to the horizontal stop position and refill cooling system.
